Starring Vin Diesel ,Paul Walker ,Nick Hogan,Jordana Brewster
Well, what can I say about another retread after my last post? This one actually made me smile a few times. The reunion of the original cast was a nice and needed touch and it actually delivered the goods. I wont bore you with the stories details other than to tell you that Vin and Paul are both after the same jackass in this one and even though they are on opposite sides of the law,the teaming almost seems natural.Paul Walkers character seems to no longer have the inner conflict issues of the first outing and pretty much breaks the law in every seen he is in.And its not exactly small potato crimes either. His spree ranges from some glorious traffic violations,to public endangerment,to planting evidence,to murder. The thing is,you're happy hes doing it all!Take it from me gang,I'm not even into cars all that much and this movie had plenty of awesome action in and outside of the suped up rides and thus would appeal to any action fan.The dialogue on the other hand,is well, awful.Just plain awful. If you can get past the thick layers of cheese and just focus on the whole,"lets get this jerk" storyline, then you'll do fine. One thing that struck me as odd in this entry was the soundtrack. It is roughly 90% Spanish and very catchy and fitting given the locales involved and I think that's great.I was expecting waaay more American straight laced hip hop.RUN D.M.C make an early appearance on the soundtrack and that's where I thought we were headed, but the Latino rhythms quickly took over for the remainder of the film.Laced over the amped up sounds of the fights and cars, this one was also a feast for the ears. On an ethical note,I cant say I was a fan of the cock fighting scene and I don't imagine the people at P.E.T.A were either.I get that its prevalent in Mexico but I just didn't think it was necessary or essential to the story. If that was the low point, then the ethical high point is that no one in this movie smoked! That was refreshing and further proving my point that adding smoking to characters like this is absolutely lame. All in all,I must admit that I liked this one and would recommend it to those who were disappointed with the last two outings in the franchise as well as to anyone new to the brand. With one of the most satisfying endings Ive seen in years, this flick deserves a look.Make your way to a theater that boasts surround sound and enjoy.
